AFFILIATION
We are an Independent, Fundamental Baptist Church.  We believe that a church
should be led and under the governance of God and His Holy Word, the Bible.
We believe the Bible is the final authority for everything pertaining to this life,
and the life to come.
CHURCH HISTORY
The Lens Creek Baptist Church for several years was a mission of the Browns Town Baptist Church of Marmet, West
Virginia.  On September 9 1899, several brethren and sisters of the Browns Town Baptist Church requested letters to
organize the Browns Town Mission into an independent church at Hernshaw, West Virginia, to be known as the Lens Creek
Baptist Church.  The original church building was erected in 1900 and completed in 1903.  On July 8, 1900, the church met
and called T. G. Bonham as the first pastor.

On May 12, 1957, Sanford A. (Buck) Harvey was called again and elected pastor.  Preacher Harvey served as pastor of the
church for 18 years until his resignation on December 16, 1973.  The church began to grow under Preacher Harvey's
leadership, and it was decided a new church would be built on a lot given by J. B. Griffith, which is the site of the present
church on Route 94.  On the first Sunday in June 1958, a ground-breaking service was held.  The opening service in the new
church was held on June 7, 1959 with T. D. Toler as guest speaker.

On January 6, 1974, Vernon (Bunk) Price was elected pastor of the church and served for 25 years until his resignation on
December 31, 1999.  During his leadership, many improvements were made to the church, including the activity building.

On June 4, 2000, Tim Martin was called and elected as pastor.  Pastor Martin served until September 2005.

On August 27, 2006 Greg Johnson was called and elected as our present pastor.
